During the school break, COERR Mae Hong Son organized a Debate Competition for students in two boarding houses in Ban Mae Surin Temporary Shelter, Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son Province.

   The first debate competition was organized in each of the two boarding houses: New Star and Bible, in which they organized their own debate topic.

   New Star Boarding House organized their competition on April 7, 2023. There were 76 students of 59 females and 17 males attending the debate on the topic of “Fire or Floods: which are worse hazard”. At Bible Boarding House, there were 25 youth of 15 females and 10 males attending a debate on the topic of “Being Educated is better than having money”, on April 8, 2023.

   Later, on April 11, 2023, the final debate competition was organized for student winners from each boarding house, on the topic of “In which way a father is better and in which way a mother is better”. There were 180 participants of 135 females and 45 males.

   The result of the competition came out that New Star Boarding House was the winner with 219 points while Bible Boarding House had 217 points.

   The aim of the events was to provide these youth the opportunity and stage to develop intellectual capability and team work; while the senior referee gave comments to make sure that these youth played their important roles properly.
